8th Annual Strong Beer Festival More info here
Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, 2-6pm at Mesa Amphitheatre
Winter in Arizona is a wonderful time to spend a day outside. We arrived at Mesa Ampitheater for an afternoon of friends, food, music and fellow strong beer enthusiasts! This event was a crowd favorite with its open grassy spaces, large stage and fantastic assortment of fine seasonal and strong brews. Thanks to all who made this event a success!
Great American Beer Festival 2007, October 2007 More info here
Two of our Guild members won medals in the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado in October! Let's raise our glasses to them and offer our congratulations!
- Beaver Street Brewery & Whistle Stop Cafe
Flagstaff, Arizona
"Won a Gold Medal in the category of South German Style Hefeweizen beer. The beer "Hefeweizen" was chosen as the best beer over 60 other entries in the category. The Great American Beer Festival featured 2793 beers that were entered in 75 categories by 473 breweries. We are very pleased to be recognized by national and international judges on our brewing."
- Rock Bottom
Scottsdale, Arizona
Won a Silver Medal. Here is the brewer's description:
"Liquid Sun Saison is a Belgian style farmhouse ale. In keeping with tradition, we've added several different malts including barley, wheat and oats. Cara-Munich malt lends a slightly sweet malt character. However the flavor profile is dominated by the Belgian yeast strain which creates the distinctly fruity aroma. Fresh ground coriander seeds and fresh ginger gives this beer a uique citrus spiciness."
- Other Arizona breweries winning medals were BJ's in Chandler and Thunder Canyon in Tucson.
